Discovering the work of an artist like Pierre, connecting with
him, and then connecting him in turn through features like this
to all of the other artists we connect with through The IDEA,
is something of the sort of stuff that has made producing these
gazettes so fulfilling for us since we started out on this enterprise
one long year ago. So, here's what he has to say for himself:
"I was born in Bayonne (France)
in 1949.
"I have been interested in signs,
calligraphies, alphabets and painting for a long time. I have
created my own calligraphy , a wordless calligraphy. It is wordless
because everyone can bring his own meaning, his own feelings
to my "words", just as one listens to music. It is
a music for the eyes.
"I have found new tools in computer
art. It is different from traditional brushes, ink-sticks and
papers. It is a different world to explore. New lights, new colours,
new effects, a brand new language to create.
"I use computer tools to create
my written paintings, but sometimes, the result looks too cold,
too technical: the artist's soul is missing (I think it is a
danger with computer art: it is too quick, too easy and sometimes,
it seems that the machine had done the job on its own: we have
to be careful about that). Then, most of the time, I photograph
parts of my traditionally-done works, and computer-art gives
the opportunity to go further, to discover some feelings and
emotions which would have remained hidden behind the paper.
"It is a new way to walk new roads
of human soul."
